Marriage*

Susanna van de Caep married Thomas Wolfsen circa 1705. I have assumed the child emancipated in 1690 is the same Susanna who married [?] Thomas Wolfsen and is the mother of Elisabeth. I have not located a marriage record, but have assumed the couple were married, as the child was not described as born out of wedlock. I have not found any other woman who matches the profile. Corrections are welcome.²

Slave Births

Circa 1688, Susanna van de Caep was born in bondage and was owned by Leendert Jansz van Gijselen de Caep de Goede Hoop.¹

Slave Emancipations

Lijsje van Madagascar was emancipated by Leendert Jansz van Gijselen, on 28 August 1690, with her children Susanna van de Caep, Isaac Pieters and Diana van de Caep, in terms of his will.^1,3
