Matthijs was from the Ceylon and was perhaps born there in 1671/72. He was said to be 20 or 21 years old in 1692.¹

On 22 April 1692 Matthijs van Ceylon was sold by Johan Ferleman to Jacob Joppe de Jonge, for Rds. 76.²
